Hope to have some new posts to share here very soon.

I am excited about putting a new Family Home Evening Kit together for my group. It is due this Friday. I found a great link and lesson so I am excited. I will share it when I have it done, along with any other ideas I have laminated.

Obedience

Here is a picture of the Family Home Evening packet that I created for my FHE group. My topic was Obedience. I took the lesson straight from the Primary 1 Manual of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

We meet once a month and based on the number of ladies who are participating I make so many kits to exchange for other kits.

This past group was held at my home and we had 6 of us total. So I made 6 kits up, I kept one for myself and got 5 other kits back from the other ladies. The topics ranged from understanding differences in people to prayer.

Now I have 5 more new topics to go over with my son during FHE. And the topic on prayer might be a good one for my husband right now, as he is looking for a new career/job and feels like he has no direction.

If you are interested in the kit leave me a comment and I can try to email you a copy of the kit I made up. You will have to print up the parts (color printer) and laminate yourself. But the kit comes with an outline for the lesson, and all visual aids.
Wondering what Family Home Evening is??? Check out this link to find out.
Or you can read about it on my other blog.

Plan of Salvation

This is a religious themed activity based on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints teachings. It is teaching about the pre-existance when we were all spirits, how we were born and got our bodies and then what happens to our spirits and bodies when we die.
You can find it at www.sugardoodle.net
Direct link is here.
If you are a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and have small children who are in Nursery or Primary age there are tons of lessons helps. I am planning on printing up many more of these.

Color Matching

This is kind of a winter theme so I thought I would share it now even though we all are looking forward to Spring to offically arrive on March 21st. Can you tell I love Spring. Unfortuantly, where I live we don't really see Spring until maybe more like the end of April, but here is hoping it comes a bit early or the Northwest this year.

So here is a color matching activity. Also found on www.mormonchic.com

Link here.

Dress the Bear

While going through my projects to take pictures of I found this one that was not yet laminated, so I pulled out my trusty laminator, warmed it up (seems to be taking a long time to get hot enough) and let myself enter my happy place....laminating.

I think I found this file folder activity almost 2 years ago.

I love the Missionary Outfit! Too cute.

It is from www.Mormonchic.com
Very fun site with tons of stuff on it. My friend Susanna told me about it because I saw she had made a few of the file folder games/activities for her daughters.
Here is the direct link.

St. Patrick's Day Shape Matching Game

From Childcareland.com
PDF files (open in Acrobat) Color or Black and White (color in yourself)

Trying to get into the holiday spirit here in our home. I didn't do to well for V-Day with us all getting the flu in our home and then colds on top of that.
The day after V-Day I pulled out the few decorations I had for St. Patrick Day and hung them up and pulled out the laminator to create this game for my son to play up tell the day the leprechauns go jumping and causing mischief.

Size Sequencing Bears

Another one from Childcareland.com (I LOVE this SITE!!!!) *Looks like the bear size sequencing game is no longer there, but she has several other themed items that are size sequencing that you can download and print for free.
This teaches Big and Small. When I created this a year ago, my son was NOT interested in the concept of putting the into order, but now that he is a bit older he was much more open to the idea of looking at each bear and seeing how they get a little smaller each time. He is really into putting things (items) into rows right now, so it worked out well to pull out this activity today.

Instruments

When I first wanted to start doing lessons with my son at home I found a site called Preschool Resource Room. It has tons of fun weekly themed ideas. This felt board game was created for the week that we learned about instruments. I just went on line and found free clip art and printed different instruments off and laminated them.
I sat at the kitchen table with my son and showed him the pictures and read off their names while he was eating his breakfast. Later that day I placed the pictures on the felt board and had him point to the different instruments I called off. He was not talking yet at this time so he couldn't say the words, but he knew the names and picked the correct pictures when I called each out. It was the first time I think I realized he had a photographic/auditory memory.

I am Feeling....

Felt board idea I got from Childcareland.com
I colored the faces and the word that represents the feeling in the same color to help my son associate the words with the feeling. Now I can show him just the face and he will verbally tell me what feeling it is.

Math Mats I

These Math Counting Mats are from Sugardoodle.net

I found them over a year ago, and the site has had a huge re-design so I have no idea where to find a link to post.
I have yet to let my son use the mats because he didn't seem interested in math. But now he is getting the hang of it and I will be pulling it out this week to let him play with some Gold Fish crackers as counters! FUN! I will try and get a video of him playing

5 Little Monkeys

I am sure we all have heard this story/song before...."Five Little Monkey's Jumping on the BED!...One fell off and Bonked his head. Momma Called the doctor and the doctor said. "NO MORE Monkey's Jumping on the bed!"
Click Here for a link for something simular you can print up in color or in black and white.
My son loved this felt board idea and learned to count up to 5 very quickly. He is a very visual learner. He loves to sing the song, and do different voices for the characters.

Some Questions Answered

I am glad that many of you have enjoyed looking at the blog. I have enjoyed going through my files and taking pictures of them. My son has been enjoying playing with the activities. It has been a while since I have pulled any out. He goes through spurts where he wants to do several of the activities and then he will just stop.

Anyway...I am glad you have enjoyed the blog so far. I love to read the comments.
And speaking of comments I have had a couple people ask me how much my laminator cost.
Well it was a few years back but I think I got mine for $20 on sale. My husband bought it for my birthday.
Today the same laminator at Habor Fraight Tools is selling for $24.99, and the Laminating sheets (box of 25) for $5.99. Still VERY good prices. You can go to the store and buy them or even order on line.

I feel it was a huge investment, one I LOVE and brings me joy. Bug loves playing with the items I laminate. It has made lessons fun. It is so much easier than using the laminating paper/contact paper. I used that at first and every one of my items had creases in them where the paper folded up on itself.

Having a Laminator will make your life a little bit easier. You can use it on so many things. Not only on Kid Learning Activities. You can laminate important documents to preserve them. You can laminate your recipe cards so that they are easy to wipe down after using. I have stained many a book or piece of paper with food prep. I plan on laminating my favorite recipes and sticking them in a binder. You could create chore charts and use the dry erase markers to check off each chore. The list could go on and on.

I hope that I have answered the question for those who were wondering about purchasing a Laminator. If not you can email me personally at brelnug@yahoo.com and I will try to answer your question in more detail.

I will try and take some pictures and have some more projects to share tomorrow.

Brown Bear

Learning colors and animals is FUN with the story "Brown Bear, Brown Bear".

The virtual vine- near the bottom of the page is the link for the pictures I used. They come in black and white or color.
DLTK- this site acutally has the pictures (not the same as mine- cuter than mine). They come in color or black and white so that you can color them your self.
Hubbardscupboard- as tons of fun stuff to teach all week long!

Teaching Weather!

Well, my intentions were good, but sometimes that doesn't cut it.

I had said that I was going to provide the links to where I found my free pictures and I plan on still doing this, but this first project is one of the ones I did over a year ago and I don't have the pictures saved on my computer any longer and I can't find the link for the pictures. I wish that I could give credit to who designed the pictures but I don't have that information either.

Sorry, I hope that you all will give me a little slack, and return often to see what other laminate projects I post.

Here is a picture of the Weather pictures I laminated.

Calendar for January

I found this calender on Childcareland.com. It is under the free downloads. She puts several free downloads up during the month and I check back often.
The lady who runs the site changes the calender items each year. These penguins are from last year, and this year it looks like she has snowflakes. Not sure if I am going to down load them and recreate them. I plan on hanging up the poster board that I made last year and allowing my son to put the dates up each morning.
It will be good to teach him the days of the week, and the months, and also reinforce counting numbers.
